How to wipe a hard drive
If you decide to change your old hard drive to a more modern one and give it to a friend, or you sell it, then you should be sure of a hundred percent removal of information from it. There are thefts of important sensitive information from discarded disks.
When you format a hard drive or delete a partition, you are usually only deleting the file system, making the data invisible, or no longer blatantly indexed, but not gone. To date, there are a lot of programs that in a few hours will restore your information from erased areas, even formatted drives.
