Being harassed or cyberbullied<\/a> on Instagram can be a distressing experience. If you find yourself in this situation, know that you are not alone and there are steps you can take to make it stop. In this blog post, we will provide steps on how to report harassment on Instagram, and what comes from reporting harassment on the platform so you can take back control of your social media experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harassment on social media platforms is especially popular nowadays due to the countless ways a person can harass another without being identified or stopped because of the ability to create new profiles and continue with the harassment. In other cases, the harassment escalates because an Instagram account is hacked<\/a> and the attacker uses the stolen access to impersonate the victim or send abusive messages<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you notice you are being harassed, it is helpful to report the harassment to Instagram. This will help the platform take notice of the online abuse happening on their app. If Instagram has enough proof that the user is going against their community guidelines, they will delete the abuser\u2019s account or even ban them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although this helps the platform realize what\u2019s happening, reporting harassment on Instagram typically isn\u2019t as beneficial to the victim. Once an account is reported, it will take days or even weeks for something to happen, if it even does. It is very simple for users to report an account or messages and posts. Follow these simple steps below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Go to the harasser\u2019s account and\/or harassing comments on your or their profiles<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Click on the three dots \u201c\u2026\u201d in the upper right corner of their profile or comment<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Click report<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Click \u201cit\u2019s posting content that shouldn\u2019t be on Instagram\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Choose a reason for reporting. Select all that apply to your situation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Click submit<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    <\/span>Report on your device<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    To report your harasser\u2019s account on your device, follow the same steps we have given above. Reporting your attacker\u2019s harassing comments through your device is a little different but just as simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
